Community leader, attorney, teacher, parent:
Kara Hope would put her experience to work for you
As a community leader, Kara knows the great things that a community can achieve when its members work together. Kara helped found and leads the Holt Community Arts Council, an all-local, all-volunteer non-profit group, and she has successfully applied for state grants on the group’s behalf. Those grants help pay for summer concerts, which are free to the public.
As a research attorney, Kara worked on a wide range of cases – everything from criminal appeals and property disputes to constitutional claims and family law issues. As a litigator, she successfully argued motions, and she worked on everything from appeals to the Michigan Supreme Court to negotiating plea agreements at the district court level.
As a teacher, Kara knows how to clearly communicate, even when addressing complicated subject matter. As an adjunct professor at Cooley Law school, Kara has taught the benefits of writing in Plain Language to hundreds of future lawyers. Kara firmly believes that transparency and accessibility in law and government improve society.
As a parent, Kara lives the struggles and the joys that come with raising children. Kara knows the unique day-to-day and legal challenges that come with being a member of a "kinship" family. She believes that regardless of their makeup, all families deserve the same respect and consideration.
