No, it's not a "Star Wars" reference. Instead, it refers to the legacy of public service that comes with the Hope name. While I am a Hope by marriage, I am proud to carry on the Hope family tradition of civic engagement through public service.
My husband, Evan Hope, currently serves as Delhi Township Clerk, a position he has held for 14 years. Before serving as Clerk, he was Delhi Township trustee, a position he was elected to in 1996 at the age of 24. (It's widely believed that Evan was the youngest person ever elected to that position.)
Evan's late father, Bernard "Ben" Hope, served for 17 years on the Holt School Board, and the Bernard L. Hope Middle School is named in his honor. Evan's late uncle, Ken Hope, served on the Delhi Township Board, the Ingham County Road Commission, and the Ingham County Board of Commissioners. The Kenneth A. Hope Soccer Complex on Aurelius Road is named for him. Both Ben and Ken were long-time Delhi Township residents, business owners, and community supporters.
